Everglow Mama
My name is Alysa. I am a Postpartum Doula and mama of two.
My mom passed away 2 months before I found out I was expecting my first baby. During my whole journey of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and motherhood I longed for my moms support. Without it I felt lost and alone.
It is from my own experience that I am lead to support all mama’s during the postpartum period, to help them to feel a little less alone and to offer love and support.

I recognize that postpartum is a sacred, tender, vulnerable time. You have gone through a huge experience both physically and emotionally and i can be hard to understand what might be normal. As a doula, I can offer support, education and encouragement during this time. My focus will be you first. Depending on your needs, we plan scheduled 3-4 hours shifts where I come to your home and support you. This can look different each time.
Support can look like
a listening ear
guidance with breastfeeding
a quick tidy of the house
help preparing a meal
holding baby while you rest or shower or spend time with your other children
staying with baby while you go to an appointment

Newborns are amazing and beautiful and all so different. If you don’t have a lot of experience with newborns, it can feel overwhelming as you bring home this little person and are responsible for them. A little extra support in learning who baby is can help you feel confident as you move into your role as a parent.
Support may look like
practicing swaddling and baby wearing
changing diapers
guiding bathing baby
soothing techniques
holding baby so you can sleep
and so much more.

It is important during the first weeks for you to rest and for your body to heal. During this time, you should not have to think about your home being clean or your laundry folded. Part of my support will be to assess what might need to be done around your home or you can have a list ready for me. I love folding laundry!

If you have older children, bringing baby home is adjustment for them as well. My support here can look like:
Taking older siblings for a walk
Holding baby so you can connect with older children

1 out of 3 moms are motherless.* It is rare for a care team to inquire about this and show compassion and empathy. My whole purpose for Everglow Mama is to change that. My care will have a soft focus on mom’s grieving their moms. It is a hole that cannot be filled and sometimes. we just need someone who gets that.
My support and services are not limited to motherless mothers. All mothers who need support should have it. If you feel like I am a right for you then please reach out.

What is a Postpartum Doula?
The word postpartum means “after birth” and the word doula means “a person who serves”. So simply put a Postpartum Doula is a person who provides support for you during the period after you’ve given birth. This can look different for every person and experience and is always worth a conversation. As a trained Postpartum Doula, I offer a range of services that are customizable to fit your unique needs and wishes during period after which you bring a newborn baby home.
My goal is to support the postpartum mama, their baby and their family unit with intentional and empathetic support that is also practical and effective. Caring for the heart and wellbeing of the mama during the tender new days and weeks of motherhood.

What is Grief-Aware Care?
Grief-Aware Care™ is a framework developed by Adina Belloli, Co-Founder of The Motherless Mothers charity and community. In my experience when becoming a new mama, I honestly didn’t know if what I was feeling was grief or postpartum depression. I felt sad but didn’t know how to talk to my professional care team about it. I’d mention loosing my mom but the conversations never really went further. I didn’t know how to advocate for myself. All I knew is that I needed my mom and she wasn’t there.
For me Grief-Aware Care is holding space for both joy and sorrow. Becoming a mama can be so joyful—and it can be very overwhelming. It can bring up grief in new ways and it can be hard to understand. You can look at your newborn is such wonder and gratitude, and you can also be so sad that you can’t share this wonderful little person with your mom and vis-versa. Maybe you need a listening ear that understands what this is like.
